color: #ee4000; text-decoration: none;\" title=\"Pause\" href=\" \">still<\/a> those barking thoughts of mine<\/p>\n<p>Am I tounge-ty&#8217;d and cannot pray<sup><a href=\"#footnote2\">2<\/a> <\/sup><a id=\"note2\"><\/a><br \/>\nthy word inspires<br \/>\npraying desires<br \/>\nDumb lips unseals; tells what to say<\/p>\n<p>When I in darkness erre and stray<br \/>\nthy word&#8217;s a light<sup><a href=\"#footnote3\">3<\/a> <\/sup><a id=\"note3\"><\/a><br \/>\nmost clear and bright<br \/>\nAnd leads me back into the way<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;me foolish, simple, and <a style=\"background-color: #ffffff; color: #ee4000; text-decoration: none;\" title=\"Lack Eyes\" href=\" \">want eyes<\/a><br \/>\nthy word&#8217;s light, rule<br \/>\nmaster and Schoole,<br \/>\nWhich makes the commers to it wise<\/p>\n<p>I see myself undone and poor<br \/>\nthy words infold<br \/>\nA mine of gold<br \/>\nA pearl of price; all richer score<sup><a href=\"#footnote4\">4<\/a> <\/sup><a id=\"note4\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With God by nature I&#8217;me at odds<br \/>\nthy word my soul<br \/>\nconverteth<sup><a href=\"#footnote5\">5<\/a> <\/sup><a id=\"note5\"><\/a> whole<br \/>\nfrom satans service unto Gods<\/p>\n<p>Do outward troubles, inward grief<br \/>\nmy soul torment<br \/>\nthey word is sent<br \/>\nWith comfort for my soules relief<sup><a href=\"#footnote6\">6<\/a> <\/sup><a id=\"note6\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Am I perplext with doubts and fears<br \/>\nthy word of grace<br \/>\nResolves the <a style=\"background-color: #ffffff; color: #ee4000; text-decoration: none;\" title=\"Fears\" href=\" \">case<\/a><br \/>\nAnd so my clouded judgment clears<\/p>\n<p>Or do despairing thoughts me take<br \/>\nthy word doth give<br \/>\nme hopes to live<br \/>\nfor Christ my dearest saviors sake<\/p>\n<p>Do multitudes of thoughts <a style=\"background-color: #ffffff; color: #ee4000; text-decoration: none;\" title=\"Continue to reoccur; Cause pressure\" href=\" \">me presse<\/a><br \/>\nI call to mind<br \/>\nthy word, and find<br \/>\nSuch comforts as my soul refresh<\/p>\n<p>Cann&#8217;t I through weakness walk alone<br \/>\nthy word Lord is<br \/>\nStrength to my knees<br \/>\nAnd staffe<sup><a href=\"#footnote6\">6<\/a> <\/sup><a id=\"note6\"><\/a> to stay my hand upon<\/p>\n<p>Thus though I thirst, faint, hunger pine<br \/>\nThy word me feeds<br \/>\nin these my needs<br \/>\nThy word it self is bread milk wine<sup><a href=\"#footnote7\">7<\/a> <\/sup><a id=\"note7\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Thus thought poor, scorn&#8217;d, forsaken pained<br \/>\nThy word alone<br \/>\nHath all in one<br \/>\nHealth, wealth, friends, honour, all contained<\/p>\n<p>Thus though soul-sick, and wounded sore<br \/>\nWith grievous sin<br \/>\nWhich doth begin<br \/>\nTo fester, <a style=\"background-color: #ffffff; color: #ee4000; text-decoration: none;\" title=\"To cause pain\" href=\" \">rankling<\/a> more and more<\/p>\n<p>Thy word shows whence help may be had<br \/>\nAnd doth me guide<br \/>\nTo christs pierc&#8217;d side<sup><a href=\"#footnote8\">8<\/a> <\/sup><a id=\"note8\"><\/a><br \/>\nWhence flows the balm of Gilead<sup><a href=\"#footnote9\">9<\/a> <\/sup><a id=\"note9\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yea thought in me no life remain,<br \/>\nThy word is good<br \/>\nAnd living food<br \/>\nWhich fetcheth me to life again<sup><a href=\"#footnote10\">10<\/a> <\/sup><a id=\"note10\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A Poetical meditation, wherein the unfefulling<br \/>\nexcellency, and several perfections of holy<br \/>\nScripture are briefly hinted by i.c.<\/p>\n<p>Thou Lord to me thy word holy given<br \/>\nprecious, and pure<br \/>\nsweet, holy, pure<br \/>\nTo guid me through the world to heaven<\/p>\n<p>if all wants and necesities<br \/>\nthy word\u2019s my lore<br \/>\nhopp\u2019d running o\u2019re<br \/>\nwith plenty of most rich supplies<\/p>\n<p>Temptations terrors dangers fears<br \/>\nthose petty hells<br \/>\nthy word dispells<br \/>\nAnd all the way before me clears<\/p>\n<p>When Satan flings his darts at me<br \/>\nthen Lord thy word<br \/>\nis shield and sword<br \/>\nTo save me and to make him flee<\/p>\n<p>The world prevents it\u2019s objects rare<br \/>\nbut yet they word<br \/>\ndoth that afford<br \/>\nWhich for deemes to me far clothier ware<\/p>\n<p>Then lust imuiets me to it\u2019s pleasure<br \/>\nbut to delightes<br \/>\nthy word ignuites<br \/>\nWhich for purposes in weight and measure<\/p>\n<p>Then errors their gum\u2019d wares display<br \/>\nbut scripture saies<br \/>\nshun errors wayes<br \/>\nWalk by my rule this is the way<\/p>\n<p>Thus when I\u2019me tempted unto sin<br \/>\nby thy word\u2019s art<br \/>\nhid in my heart<br \/>\nboth battle and reward i win.<\/p>\n<p>Yea though sins have oe\u2019ffd my soul<br \/>\nthy word can cleanse<br \/>\nthose noylome dens<br \/>\nof lust and sins left strength controul<\/p>\n<p>Have i an unbelieving heart<br \/>\nthy word, Lord hath<br \/>\nPower to work faith<br \/>\nBy thy most holy sprits art<\/p>\n<p>Have i an hard and stony heart<br \/>\nThy word thus deals,<br \/>\nFirst breaks then heales<br \/>\nThat stone is cured by this smart<\/p>\n<p>Would I prolong this life for ever<br \/>\nThe scripture shewes<br \/>\nWhence water flowes<br \/>\nPure streams which whoso drinks, dye\u2019s never<\/p>\n<p>The Lord be blest who thus provides<br \/>\nAnd filleth full<br \/>\nMy empty soul<br \/>\nWith food, which evermore abides<sup><a href=\"#footnote11\">11<\/a> <\/sup><a id=\"note11\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Blesse God (my soul) that thus hath given<br \/>\nStrength, light, guide, way<br \/>\nLeast thou shouldst stray<br \/>\nIn this thy pilgrimage to heaven<\/p>\n<p>This book, these sentences, these lines,<br \/>\neach word and letter<br \/>\nto me are better<br \/>\nThen chaines of pearl, and goldenmines<\/p>\n<p>Tis heaven transcrib\u2019d and glory pen\u2019d<br \/>\nGod\u2019s truth no doubt<br \/>\nWas copy\u2019d out,<br \/>\nWhen he this gift to men did send<\/p>\n<p>Tis truth it self, God doth in tend,<br \/>\nMans word<sup><a href=\"#footnote12\">12<\/a> <\/sup><a id=\"note12\"><\/a> shall fall<br \/>\nHeaven, earth, and all<br \/>\nBut this shall never have an end<\/p>\n<p>My soul, admire that hand and quill<br \/>\nThat did produce<br \/>\nFor sinners use<br \/>\nTh\u2019 eternal mind, the <a style=\"background-color: #ffffff; color: #ee4000; text-decoration: none;\" title=\"One who has supremacy or rank above, or authority over, others; a superior; a ruler, governor, lord, or master (of persons, etc.).
