Which hourly fill the world with fresh Alarms<\/a><\/p>\n Invade thy peace: nor discompose that Rest<\/p>\n Which thou maist keep untoucht within thy Brest<\/p>\n Amid those whirlwinds, if thou keep but free<\/p>\n The Intercourse<\/a> betwixt thy God and thee<\/p>\n Thy region lies above these storms: and know<\/p>\n Thy thoughts are earthly, and they creep too Low<\/p>\n If these can reach thee, or access can find,<\/p>\n To bring or raise disorders something Lies,<\/p>\n But yet in these disorders<\/p>\n That’s worth thy notice, out of which the Wise<\/p>\n May trace and find that just and powerful hand<\/p>\n That secretly, but surely doth command,<\/p>\n And manage these distempers<\/a> with that skill<\/p>\n That while they seem to cross, they act his will<\/p>\n Observe that silver thread, that steers and bends<\/p>\n The worst of all disorders, to such ends,<\/p>\n That speak his justice, goodness, Providence,<\/p>\n Who closely guides it by his Influence,<\/p>\n And though these storms are loud, yet listens well,<\/p>\n There is another message that they tell<\/p>\n This world is not thy country; ’tis thy way<\/p>\n Too much contentment would invite thy stay<\/p>\n Too long upon the journey; make it strange,<\/p>\n Unwelcome news, to think upon a Change<\/p>\n Whereas this rugged entertainment sends<\/p>\n Thy thoughts before thee to thy journey’s end;<\/p>\n Chides thy desires homewards: tells the pain,<\/p>\n To think of resting here it is but in vain;<\/p>\n Makes thee to set an equal estimate<\/p>\n On this uncertain world, and a just rate<\/p>\n On that to come; it bids the wait and stay<\/p>\n Untill thy master calls, and then with joy<\/p>\n To entertain it such a change as this,<\/p>\n Renders thy Loss, thy Gain; improves thy Bliss.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Peace way-ward soul!
